Musk Once Said He Felt "No Mercy" For Someone Like Alex Jones. What Happened?

While Alex Jones is known for saying many outlandish things, claiming that the Sandy Hook shooting that resulted in the death of twenty children and six adults is one of his most outlandish and controversial yet. As a matter of fact, it is this claim that has resulted in the demise of his once successful conspiracy theory network, Infowars. In 2022, as the fresh new owner of Twitter (now X), Elon Musk made it known to those wondering about Jones' future on the platform that he (Musk) would not allow anyone on the platform that would "use the death of children for profit, politics or fame" in replies to tweets that have since seemingly been removed.

Today, Musk seems to be one of very few people protecting Alex Jones from receiving a final blow to his now fragile conspiracy news network. As the Onion attempts to buy what remains of Alex Jones' empire Musk and X are the only things getting in the way. It is incredibly striking that Musk, who just two years ago made his disdain of Alex Jones' rhetoric clear, even discussing the death of his own firstborn as a source of the disdain, not only seems to be in aid of Jones, but is also openly "joking" about buying MSNBC as X users cheer him on with many suggesting that Jones should be hired on as an anchor on the news network would Musk actually to purchase it.

There is a lesson to be learned here. The amnesia of the many can and will be used to the advantage of those in power. Rhetoric is the last thing that matters when it comes to the intentions of billionaires. Musk's comments taking aim at Jones for his misinformation regarding the death of children were made only 2 years ago, and while at the moment it all seems like "jokes". the idea of Musk actually buying MSNBC and going through with the suggestions of X users to make one of the nations' most infamous conspiracy theorist an anchor feels far from outlandish.
